KEY
APPLICATION TIP: Apply
two (2) coats to raw wood - the 1st application to all accessible
surfaces, and the 2nd only to the outer surfaces that are
exposed to weather. Remember to always rub in/rub off any
excess oil after every application.
STAINING:
Ecowoodoil’s standard “CLEAR” Garden Furniture
Oil will give a light wet-look to the existing state of
your timber (wet your timber with water to get an idea of
the finished look). The “GOLD TEAKWOOD” enhancer
is best for teak, pine, blonde hardwoods etc.The "RED
HARDWOOD” enhancer is best for kwila, merbau, jarrah,
cedar etc. The two Enhancer options seek to emphasise the
original colour and restore colour that has been weathered
out. DO NOT add further pigments/colourants.
NOTE: Some red hardwoods (notably Jarrah & Kwila) undergo
deep-reddening in colour over time. To reduce/lighten this
occurrence consider our "GOLD TEAKWOOD" option.
You may also consider "RED HARDWOOD" enhancer
on teak, pine, blonde hardwoods etc; to provide a light,
red cedar result.
PREPARATION:
See our "How to Guides"
for preparing Brand
New Timbers and Weathered
Timbers prior to Oiling.
MAINTENANCE:
Lightly wash as seen to be necessary, and apply 1 (one)
coat (clothed in) every 3-6 months. For less frequent maintenance
cycles, we suggest choosing either the Gold Teakwood or
Red Hardwood Enhancer colour options, as these will provide
longer fade-resistance and surface aesthetics.
CLEAN UP:
with warm soapy water or Gum Turpentine.
COVERAGE:
These estimates are quoted in square metres per litre. Actual
Coverage will depend on the type of timber and its preparation.
Bear in mind that unnecessarily using too much oil not only
costs you more but could also lead to a tacky finish and
possible whitening when moisture contacts excess oil residues.
